1. When will the welding work be carried out?
Everyone should know that the optical fiber is very long, but any cable will encounter the problem of inappropriate length, and the same is true of the optical fiber. At this time, the optical fiber needs to be cut. In addition, the optical fibers are all in one piece during outdoor transmission, and when connecting to the central office, the cores inside need to be connected separately. At this time, the optical fibers also need to be spliced. Therefore, it can be said that there are still many places used for fusion splicing work, and there must be fusion splicing problems when optical fibers are used.
2. How to splicing optical fibers?
Optical fiber splicing used to be a high-tech job. In the past, the work of splicing a fiber core could get a salary of 500 yuan, but now it is probably only 1/10. Below we will introduce step by step how to splice the separated fibers together. However, after reading it, I understand a lot of theoretical things, and you need to do it yourself to truly master it.

Step 1: Preparations
Fiber splicing work requires not only professional splicing tools but also many common tools to assist in this task, such as scissors, vertical knives, etc.
Step 2: Installation work
Generally, we use the optical fiber storage box to fix the optical fiber, and put the optical fiber wrapped with the black protective outer skin into the optical fiber storage box from the rear interface of the storage box. The optical fiber is wrapped around and fixed in the optical fiber storage box to prevent it from loosening during daily use.
Step 3: Peeling Work
First, peel the outer surface of the black optical fiber, and remove about 1 meter long.
Then use a utility knife to remove the protective layer inside the fiber. Special attention should be paid to the fact that the optical fiber core is made of glass fiber, which is easy to be broken. Once broken, data cannot be transmitted normally.
Step 4: Cleaning Work
No matter how careful we are during the peeling work, we cannot guarantee that the glass filament is free from contamination, so we must clean the glass filament before the welding work begins. The more common method is to use a paper towel moistened with alcohol, and then wipe and clean each small fiber.
Step 5: Socket Work
After cleaning, we need to cover the two optical fibers to be spliced with optical fiber heat shrinkable sleeves. The optical fiber heat shrinkable sleeves are mainly used to cover the joints after the glass wires are connected, and form a new protective layer after heating.
Step 6: Welding work
Place the optical fiber with both ends stripped to expose the glass fiber in the fiber fusion splicer.
Then fix the glass wire and press the SET button to start welding. From the display screen of the fiber optic fusion splicer, you can see the connection of the glass wires at both ends. If the correctness is not too crooked, the instrument will automatically adjust the alignment. Of course, we can also manually adjust the position through the buttons X and Y. After waiting for a few seconds, the fiber splicing work is completed.
Step 7: Packaging Work
The spliced optical fiber glass filament is still exposed and easily broken. At this time, you can use the fiber optic heat shrinkable sleeve just put on for fixing. Put the fiber covered with the fiber heat shrinkable sleeve into the heater and press the "HEAT" button to start heating. After 10 seconds, it can be taken out. At this point, the fusion splicing of a core is completed. Finally, the spliced optical fibers need to be placed and fixed in the optical fiber storage box.
Optical fiber connection is a job that practice makes perfect. It is not something that can be mastered by watching others splicing once or twice.
