Fiber splicing process
In the weak current industry, we often use optical fibers. The transmission distance of optical fiber is long, and the stability is strong, and the cost is relatively low. This is obvious to all. But the fusion of optical fibers seems to be a bit troublesome. Next, ZR Cable will introduce the fusion splicing process of optical fiber to you.
Fiber splicing process
Tools/Materials
optical fiber
Fusion machine (some tools and supplies in the fusion machine)
Splice box
Pigtails and Flanges
method/step
1. Disassemble the fusion splicing box and install the flange and pigtail. Loosen the screws securing the fiber. Remove the black sheath of the fiber and fix it in the splice box.
2. Use stripping scissors to gently peel off the outer layer protecting the inner core of the optical fiber. The inner core of the fiber is fully revealed. Put heat-shrinkable tubes on the optical cores of different colors, put alcohol cotton, thread cutters and other supplies in front of you to prepare for welding.
3. Gently remove the last layer of protective film of the optical core with a wire stripper. Wipe clean with alcohol cotton, cut it with a thread cutter, and put it in the fusion splicer. Then cut the pigtail in the same way and put it in the fusion splicer.
4. After closing the cover, the display shows the welding process. If the placement is not suitable, or there is a problem with the cut surface, the splicer will sound an audible warning. Everything is normal, the display will give the welding value. 0.00 is the best, the most difference is more than 0.05.
5. After welding, gently cover the welding section with heat shrinkable tube and put it in the heater for heating. There will be an audible warning that heating is complete.
6. Gently coil each core of the optical fiber in the fusion splicing box, preferably press it with tape to make it not easy to move. Then fix the cover with screws, and the fusion splicing of the optical fiber is completed.
Precautions
Be careful not to damage the inner core of the fiber when stripping the fiber.
The truncated surface of each core must be neat and clean.
When placing the optical core in the fusion splicer, it must be placed in the slot to keep the fibers at both ends in a straight line.
